During her time at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Sofia studied Landscape Architecture with a concentration in Urban Planning. A summer internship in Holland, Michigan and a semester-long project researching the Calumet Region, with a focus on increasing the tree canopy percentage in Northwest Indiana, has given Sofia the chance to expand on her knowledge of the Midwest plant palette. These opportunities have also enhanced Sofia’s desire to pursue landscape architecture and advocate to younger generations about the profession. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her dog, puzzle making, and recreating dishes she finds on Instagram.
