Located in beautiful Lake Forest, Illinois, the 25-acre Deerpath Community Park Improvement Project is the culmination of a years-long planning and design effort led by Hitchcock Design Group that began with City Council approval of a Parks and Recreation Master Plan identifying synthetic turf playing fields as a top recreational priority for the community. The project involved installation of recyclable synthetic turf athletic fields and additional amenities for the community park, including two restroom buildings with shaded open-air pavilions, dedicated pickleball courts, a playground, fitness stations, and natural area enhancements. In addition to using ultra-durable, recyclable synthetic turf with 100% organic infill, other sustainable features include the conversion of 4 acres of non-field turf to native plantings, the addition of a diverse tree canopy, reduction of heat island effect, protection of the Skokie River and adjacent wetlands, and much more.
